Baca County Conservation District, Springfield NRCS and Southeast Colorado RC&D Council staff braved the heat to man a game booth during the Baca County Fair July 31st through August 2nd.  And what a fabulous Fair it was!  The Fair Grounds were buzzing with excitement as children scrambled on the giant blow-up jungle gyms and played games for prizes.

  At the BCCD/NRCS/RC&D booth kids could answer a conservation related question to receive a free water balloon.  “Name three natural resources.”  “How can you help conserve energy at your house?”  “What is a cleaner way to generate electricity than using fossil fuels?”  By the third day the kids were telling us the answers before we could get the questions out!  Did I mention we gave out 800 water balloons?!?! 

  The other games available to play at our booth included a washer toss and a ring toss.  Kids of all ages enjoyed the challenge.

 We want to compliment the Baca County Fair Board and our new Extension Agent, Deborah Lester, and her staff on a job well done.  Putting this event on is a HUGE undertaking and this year was such a grand success.  Thank you to everyone who played a role in our County Fair.  And a particular “You go girl!” to Deborah.  We are lucky to have you as part of our community!
