Over 200 conservation district supervisors, employees, conservation partners and landowners attended. The event covered a wide variety of conservation issues including “Colorado 21st Century Water Law”, “ 2008 Farm Bill, Post Rulemaking Discussion”, “Options for Expiring CRP”, and “Renewable Energy”. BCCD was honored again this year to present at the Annual Meeting. The break-out session was entitled “Building Your District Through Partnership.” Many of BCCD’s partners spoke to the 40 attendees pertaining to what types of projects they like to collaborate with conservation districts on. The network of speakers included Southeast Colorado RC&D, International Center for Appropriate and Sustainable Technology, Colorado Dept. of Ag’s High Plains Weed Specialist, Rural Development, Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory, Colorado Division of Wildlife, The Nature Conservancy, and CSU State Forest Service. BCCD was also honored with a “Platinum District Award” for 70 years of outstanding service and commitment to the conservation of natural resources in the state of Colorado. BCCD commissioned a custom belt buckle to donate for CACD’s Tuesday night Live Auction. Baca County’s own craftsman Rex Crawford designed this one-of-a-kind buckle. The creation was steel overlain with silver and gold, inset with rubies, and hand engraved. You can contact Rex at (719) 324-5234. |
