  Baca County Conservation District is now accepting applications for tree planting projects in Baca County. BCCD has been awarded Matching Grant funds from the State Conservation Board for cost share on Agro-forestry projects in Baca County. The shelterbelts can be for the protection of farmsteads, livestock, wildlife, crops, or living snow fences. Applicants will be eligible for 50% cost-share, with a $1000 project cap. Applications will be accepted through February 6, 2009. Applicants will be required to install tree plantings according NRCS Standards and Specifications. Applicants will need to work with Tom Werner on project design. Applications can be picked up at the BCCD/NRCS Office at 27200 US Highway 287 in Springfield. BCCD will also be holding a Conservation Tree Planting Workshop on February 4th in cooperation with Colorado State Forest Service and Baca County Extension, as part of this grant.
