Walsh School was recently awarded funds to install a Skystream 1.9kW wind turbine through a Governor's Energy Office (GEO) grant. Walsh is one of six schools in the state to receive “Wind for Schools” funds. For additional information on the program go to: www.colorado.gov/energy/renewables/wind-for-schools.asp Walsh’s Skystream will offset energy needs for the school’s bus garage. The foundation pier was drilled and poured May 4th by WT Construction, LLC from Ulysses. The pier is 30 inches in diameter and 12 feet deep, has a rebar cage installed, and is then filled with cement. Local renewable energy champions from Baca County Conservation District and Southeast Colorado RC&D are assisting the Walsh School with project management and fund raising.
